What is Ohana?

Ohana is more than a name, it is a philosophy of life and means family in an extended sense of the term including blood-related, adoptive or intentional. It emphasizes that family and friends are bound together and members cooperate and remember one another.

 

Ohana is Green!

In creating the Ohana Wellness Centre, we have taken as many steps as were feasible to make it green, sustainable, energy efficient, and healthy.
All appliances, and systems at Ohana are Energy Star certified, and lighting where possible is low consumption compact florescent, in a spectrum balanced colour.
All wood products where possible were selected from Forest Stewardship Council certified sources.
Facility water filtration by General Electric water systems, removing chlorine, VOC's, pesticides, sediment, and other contaminants. Drinking water is further filtered by reverse osmosis systems.

Insulation used where possible is a bio based no VOC product.

Ohana is insulated to R52 or better on all outside surfaces.
Heating and hot water are provided by an on demand system of the highest efficiency. Radiant in-floor heating provides for comfortable efficient studios and treatment rooms.
HVAC and air circulation systems are Energy Star certified, use ozone safe components, and operate at 80 AFUE or better.
Indoor air quality is maintained and filtered by LifeBreath systems, which recover over 80% of the heating or cooling energy while exchanging air.
All paints coatings, flooring, glues used in constructing Ohana are certified no VOC.
Ohana is undergoing energy audits and shortly will be sourcing power from only green renewable sources by Bullfrog Power.
